  3.   This is an idea taken from several other platforms, where
  4. a textfile that contains all important info is included
  5. inside the compressed files to enable a SysOp or NetWork
  6. Co-Ordinator to enter better descriptions easier, as all the
  7. info is right there at hand!
  8.  
  9.   Hopefully sometime in the future the authors of the top
  10. two Macintosh compression formats will someday include a BBS
  11. and NetWork friendly tool/utility that will be able to read
  12. this text file while inside their respective formats
  13. compressed files and automatically pass the below listed
  14. info to the various BBS and NetWork packages for
  15. auto-inclusion into the respective file listings during
  16. uploads (Both local and non-local).  It would also be GREAT
  17. if the authors of
  18.  
  19. .CPT
  20. .SIT
  21.  
  22. formats would have a menu option in their utilities that
  23. authors could select, enter the appropiate info and save the
  24. info in its format to a textfile named "FILE.ID" inside the
  25. compressed file.  It would also be nice if we on the
  26. Macintosh had utilities that would also automatically
  27. examine/verify received files and scan for viruses to better
  28. protect all, but all of this is sadly lacking on the Mac
  29. platform.

  31.   This allows the author's of the various files to have the
  32. descriptions and info they deem important auto-entered into
  33. the various file listings.

  35.   Various BBS and NetWork packages could then pick what
  36. fields they desire to convey the info needed for their
  37. respective packages.
